At Little You 3D, we’re always exploring new ways to expand creativity beyond characters. Over time, we’ve run some bold experiments creating functional product designs using our 3D modeling platform. Our goal is simple: keep testing, learning, and improving so we can bring the best possible creative tools and products to our community!
Why We Tried Functional Product Designs
Little You 3D is best known for creating custom 3D characters, but we asked ourselves:
What if our platform could also support simple, useful everyday products?
Functional items combine:
Creativity
Real-world usefulness
Hands-on learning
3D printing practice
So we started building and testing some fun prototypes, check them out below!
Bottle Opener
Cookie Cutter
Picture Frame
Phone Holders
Paperweight
LEGO-compatible accessory
Rings
And many more inventions!
What This Means for Little You 3D
These experiments were incredibly valuable.
While our platform excels at creative character design, functional product design introduces new challenges:
Mechanical strength requirements
Real-world tolerances
Material performance limits
Safety considerations
For now, character-based miniatures remain our strongest and most reliable experience, but we’re always curious about what else is possible. After all, innovation only happens when you’re willing to test ideas that might not work the first time. So we started experimenting with different materials to find the best solutions for miniatures.
And guess what? We even tried 3D-printed candies!
After plenty of testing (and a few wild experiments!), we’ve finalized the four best full-color 3D printing materials for our miniatures and small charms, giving you vibrant color, amazing detail, and durable results.
Want to see what each material is capable of? Dive into the blogs below!
Why We Share the Experiments That Didn’t Work
At Little You 3D, transparency matters. Not every idea becomes a finished product and that’s part of building something meaningful.
Every prototype teaches us:
What users actually need
Where the technology shines
Where we need to improve
How to design better learning experiences
And we’re committed to continuous improvement.

What kinds of products should we experiment with Little You 3D?
Simple desk tools?
Creative toys?
Classroom helpers?
Something totally unexpected?
What should we build next? Drop your ideas and help us choose our next prototype. Your feedback helps shape the future of the Little You 3D community!
